Hello world!

This is my first true blog! Building a Web site takes time, creativity, ambition, wit, and wisdom…. I know I am running out of time; perhaps I never had much of anything else.

I wanted to say as an introduction to the many blogs to come that my entire goal with my teaching and this Web site is to do my part to educate and entertain a little about health and safety subjects. And I have been an active First Aid/CPR/AED IT since the 1980s, an LGIT since 1983, and a WSI and WSIT since 1974! Few things have I enjoyed more than teaching at all levels and to every group!

Although I have been involved in this business as the Water Safety Guy for several years, it has never been about the money (well, maybe a little!). I have had great fun teaching the kids in my Paramount and Bellflower pool days in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, training and teaching lifeguards and swimming instructors from the 70s forward. I have even taught the sons, daughter, nieces and nephews, and even grandchildren of past students!!!

Additionally, I have been a Red Cross volunteer often, a Health and Safety Chairperson, a Health and Safety Specialist, a member of the 1995 Red Cross National Faculty for Lifeguarding, the creator of Instructor Notes for Title 22 First Aid here in California, the inventor of the weekend WSI and Lifeguarding format, and the recipient of a California Golden Bear, SCPPOA Citation, City of Bellflower BRAVO awards.

All in all, it’s been fun. And I think I am the one who learned the most! And so, you can see, totally not in it for the money. However, if everyone I ever taught would send me a dollar, I could probably retire! Think about it…. And look for my next blog….
